OOPARTS is Shun's only compilation album and the first release of the SYUN label (although it was released at the same time as the P-MODEL live album Pause and the group's demo). OOPARTS collects every song released by SYUN, a "group" created by Susumu Hirasawa at the time, which were 9 songs spread over 4 releases over 4 years and 3 labels. The songs are experimental variations of the P-MODEL sound in their nature (referred to in the obi strip as "ascetic techno") and feature heavy use of sampling, with importance placed in the "atmosphere" (which led to people who, by chance, were present during the recordings, being credited as members). It received the title OOPARTS due to the songs being heavy in their use of samples, which was an uncommon way of music making when they were created. Hirasawa mentions in the album's liner notes that the songs haven't aged well, losing their original uniqueness and shock value, now being only shoddily, poorly edited songs.[1] The album was remastered by Masanori Chinzei and re-released on the HALDYN DOME box set on 29 February 2012.

Track information
- Ⓘ-Location was remade as LOCATION; the vocals stay the same, with the composition, the samples and the structure being different.
- Conditioning Cycle samples the scene from Bride of Frankenstein where Frankenstein's monster is taught manners by the blind hermit, which Hirasawa would later sample again in the Zebra Cassette and on the defrosted version of The Way of LIVE.
- 1778-1985 was re-recorded by Hirasawa with P-MODEL in 1985 for the album KARKADOR. This version, besides the heavy use of sampling, features drums and Hirasawa's vocals more prominently than the version on KARKADOR. This version was created with Teruo Nakano, who was, at the time, a promising P-MODEL roadie; he joined P-MODEL as a full member in January 1986 as a bassist/keyboardist/vocalist/songwriter.
- TABLE BEAT [response version] and TABLE BEAT [paradigm version] are alternate version of one song; response version has an introduction, while the paradigm version has a coda, alongside other differences (such as the echo effect on the vocals of the paradigm version.
- LOCATION is a re-recording of Ⓘ-Location; this version has more prominent samples and percussion.
- SIPHON and PAE are instrumentals; some of its sounds were later used in the song "No Workshop" from Hirasawa's Water in Time and Space album.
- SHUN II is a re-recording of 1778-1985. A live version of the song, performed by P-MODEL (including Nakano) was released in the BITMAP ~1979-1992~ video, similarly to other recordings of previous P-MODEL shows included in the video release, only part of the song (in this case, the ending) was included, the recording included had a slower tempo, more prominent bassline and the recording was of the last song played at the "last" P-MODEL show (Hirasawa announced that P-MODEL was being "frozen" after the group finished playing SHUN II; but it returned years later). A sample of this song's beginning was used in the PEVO cover of the P-MODEL song "Coelacance" (from the Perspective album) from the CONVEX AND CONCAVE album, which was produced by Hirasawa.
