History
The school was established by educationist, Shomie Das, an alumnus of The Doon School, on the concept of smart schools in 2003. The school started on 11 June 2001 in rented premises in Juiblee Hills.
On 24 June 2002 the campus moved to Khajaguda, Hyderabad. The new campus covers 10.5 acres (42,000 m2) and was inaugurated by the former chief minister Nara Chandra Babu Naidu. The school has over 3500 students over all India.
Campus Facilities and Features
The school is equipped with multiple laboratories for math and science, two libraries, an infirmary, a fitness center, a large Grand Palace Hall and several activity rooms. Classrooms are air conditioned and many have projectors or digital smart boards. There are two offices- a front office and a main office.[3]
The outdoor sports facilities include two tennis courts, a swimming pool and a splash pool , a cricket pitch, a volleyball court, a basketball court, a soccer field, a rock climbing wall and a skating rink for younger children.[4]
Security and maintenance staff are assigned to each floor of the two connected buildings. CCTV cameras are placed in every hallway, stairwell and two in every classroom.[4]
The transport department coordinates 48 air conditioned buses in their respective routes across Hyderabad and Secunderabad. The buses are radio and GPS enabled allowing the bus driver and security guard on board to be in contact with the school. There is a text messaging system available for parents to be alerted of bus arrival estimations via text message. When pre-primary children return home at lunch time, each bus has a female caretaker accompany the children.[5]
Lunch at school, for those enrolled in meal plan, consists of a buffet-set up. The menu varies daily and is available online. It generally consists of soup/salad, rice, chapati, curry, dal, and fruit or dessert. The food is made in the school kitchen by the catering company Sodexo and is served in the dining hall.[6][7]
