Observer Research Foundation (ORF) is an independent think tank based in India.[1] It is ranked as the 8th Best Think Tank in Asia by the University of Pennsylvania's Global Go To Think Tank Index.[2] ORF has partnerships with think tanks such as Brookings Institution, Chatham House, RAND Corporation, Centre for Strategic and International Studies (USA) among others.[3]

History

Observer Research Foundation was conceived and supported by a cross-section of leading intellectuals, academics, public figures, social activists, business leaders and institutions of higher learning. It was established on September 5, 1990 as a non-profit, public policy think tank and Rishi Kumar Mishra was the founding chairman.[4]

Role

ORF provides informed and viable inputs for policy and decision-makers in the Indian Government and to the political and business leadership of India. For this, the Foundation has established six centres to consolidate and shape its many activities and programs. These are the:
