Ocean View School District

Ocean View School District is located in Orange County, California. The school district has 15 elementary and middle school campuses in Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley, Midway City and Westminster.[1] Its superintendent is Carol Hansen. Its deputy superintendent is Michael Conroy.

It operates elementary schools and middle schools. High school students go to the Huntington Beach Union High School District.[2]

In 1994, the Ocean View School District banned the game POGs, a game played with decorated milk caps known as POGs, from Midway City and other elementary and middle school campuses, asserting that POGs was akin to gambling.[1]

Finances

The district was in financial difficulty in early 2015 because of costs incurred with asbestos remediation in district schools. The district's deputy superintendent indicated in late 2015 that the finances subsequently recovered because of the negotiation of funding measures and that the district would not be required to sell assets. The district receives nearly $1 million per year in revenue from property it owns and leases to Lowe's and Wal-Mart.[3]
