Odd Steinar Albrigtsen (born 10 January 1985 in Tromsø, Norway) is a Norwegian Jazz musician (guitar) and composer, known from playing in bands like Trondheim Jazz Orchestra and "Hijack".[1]

Career

Albrigtsen is educated at "Kongsbakken vgs." in Tromsø (2001–04), Piteå conservatory of music in Sweden (2004–05), and Sund folkehøgskole, Albrigtsen holds a bachelor in jazz guitar and ensemble playing of the Jazz program at Trondheim Musikkonservatorium (2008–10).[2] He plays in bands like Afrocadabra including Chillton James (vocals & bass), Hanna Paulsberg (saxophone), Julius Charo Shutu (percussion), Thomas Torstrup (tangenter) and Ernst-Wiggo Sandbakk (drums), "Albrigtsen/Formo/Østvang Trio" that in the traditional organ trio format this trio plays melodic and catchy music written by the Tromsø guitarist, and Odd Steinar Albrigtsen Kvartett, an exciting new quartet of unique and talented musicians living in Oslo. Their music can be described as melodic jazz inspired by both American and Latin American music, and includes Kasper Værnes (saxophone), Trygve Waldemar Fiske (double bass) and Tore Sandbakken (drums).

Within the band "Clockwork", formed at the Jazz program in Trondheim in 2009 with a number of tours in Norway and Sweden, Albrigtsen released the album The Contest (2012), mixed and mastered by Jonas Kullhammar of Moserobie Studios. This Norwegian/Swedish band cling to their roots in the American bebop yet with a focus on melodic contemporary jazz with a distinctive expression.[3][4]

Albrigtsen also work as aguitar instructor first at "Trondheim Kommunale Musikkskole" and later at "Norstrand Kulturskole" in Oslo.[2]
