Off the Record (WKAR TV series)
Off the Record is a weekly, political talk program produced by Michigan public television station WKAR-TV in East Lansing, Michigan, and broadcast statewide on PBS member stations throughout Michigan. Off The Record is hosted by Michigan's senior capitol correspondent, Tim Skubick.
The program covers the governor, legislature, political campaigns and state government.
Off the Record has two segments, opening with a panel of reporters discussing recent news for 15 minutes followed by a roundtable interview with a politician or newsmaker.
Tim Skubick
Tim Skubick has anchored Off the Record since 1972, and is the longest-serving member of the state's political press corp.[1]
He also anchored the statewide investigative documentary series Michigan At Risk, as well as the governor's State of the State addresses and other Michigan election and political specials produced by WKAR in East Lansing.
Skubick covers the state capitol for a variety of other media outlets including 66 radio stations through the Michigan Radio Network. He writes a weekly political column for 22 statewide newspapers and is in high demand on the public speaking circuit around the state.
Skubick, who has degrees in broadcast journalism from Michigan State University, has done more political broadcasts than any other journalist, print or broadcast, in the state and has been covering Michigan government and politics since 1969.
Mr. Skubick's book, Off The Record (440pp), was published in 2003.
