Old Etonian (cocktail)

Kina Lillet is no longer available. The current version of Lillet is both less sweet and less bitter than the original, hence the recommendation to add orange bitters or almond liqueur. Cocchi Americano is close to the old Lillet formula and makes a fine drink but one should not add the bitters or liqueur.

An Old Etonian is a gin cocktail which enjoyed great popularity in London, circa 1925. The cocktail takes its name from Eton College and from the college's alumni, who are often referred to as Old Etonians. The Garden Hotel in London is an example of an establishment that had mastered the Old Etonian cocktail during that era.[1]
