Ole Jørn Myklebust (born 30 April 1977 in Eidsdal, Western Norway) is a Norwegian Jazz musician (trumpet, flugelhorn and vocals), educated at the Norges Musikkhøgskole. Most famous from performing in bands such as Subtonic, Køhn/Johansen Sextet, Geir Lysne Listening Ensemble, Østenfor Sol and Dixi, and with Norwegian musical profiles like Mari Boine and Unni Wilhelmsen.[1]
Career
Myklebust has manifested himself as a Chet Baker interpreter in its own OJ Trio as well as a far more modernist trumpet soloist in the band Ra, who was voted "The Best Young Jazz Musicians in Norway 2000". He has also played with the band Østenfor Sol and is now he to be found in such as Mari Boine's and Unni Wilhelmsen's bands. In addition to being a performing artist, he also works as composer, musical arranger and producer. E.g. he has composed music for TV, film, documentaries, etc.[2] He came in as a substitute on the trumpet with Mike del Ferro Quintet, with among others Anne Paceo (drums), on their Norway tour in January 2012.[3]
