Oleg Babak (Russian: Олег Яковлевич Бабак; 25.02.1967 - 7.04.1991) — Hero of the Soviet Union.
Life
On April 7, 1991, during the armed attack at Yukhari Jibikli village of Gubadli district from Goris and Kafan districts of Armenia, the troop under the command of 24-year old officer, Oleg Babak, started an unequal battle with the Armenian terrorist units. Covering the civilians of the Azerbaijani village, during about 2 hours, lieutenant Babak was beating off the attacks of the fierce Armenian militants and he killed approximately 30 terrorists. However, the Armenian militants surrounded him and treacherously shot him in the back. At the result of his bravery, the hundreds Azerbaijanis' lives were saved.[1]
