Oleksii Anatoliyovych Gai (sometimes transliterated Hai or Gay) (Ukrainian: Олексій Анатолійович Гай; born 6 November 1982 in Zaporizhzhya, Ukraine) is a Ukrainian footballer currently playing for Gabala FK. He is also a regular member of the Ukrainian national team where he has been playing since 2002.
Career
He made a political statement when in 2014 he refused to wear the "Glory to the Ukrainian Army" shirt which was imposed on all football players by the Ukraine Football Association.[1]
On 5 January 2015, Gai signed an 18-month contract with Azerbaijan Premier League side Gabala FK.[2]
