Olivier Mével is an IoT pioneer: a French serial entrepreneur and businessman with an interest in building interactive, web-connected objects,[1] he is the co-inventor of Nabaztag, a Wi-Fi enabled ambient electronic device in the shape of a rabbit and an Internet of Things icon [2]

In 2012, Olivier Mével was named one of 100 French digital influencers and, in 2014, one of 20 French personalities that made an impact on the Internet of Things. .

Career

Olivier graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure de Techniques Avancées (ENSTA ParisTech) and in 1995, he co-founded BaBeL@STaL, one of the first French digital agencies, with Philippe Feinsilber.[3]

In 2000, he was a member of the Kasskooye.com team, a then popular French website that parodied the new economy, under the pseudonym of Igmar Andersen.[4][5]

In 2003, he co-founded Violet with Rafi Haladjian, which created Nabaztag, an interactive and internet-connected object launched in 2005 and the RFID reader Mir:ror.[6] He's listed as inventor on 2 patents related to ambient and connected devices.[7]

In 2009, he co-founded reaDIYmate with Marc Chareyron .[8] The reaDIYmate DIY kits were successfully launched and manufactured in 2012 on Kickstarter.[9] The duo also created TeleSound [10] which, on its preliminary campaign, did not gather sufficient funds for full-scale manufacturing [11] and is currently awaiting future re-launch.

More recently, the Mével/ Chareyron collaboration produced Enero; a design & technology consultancy focusing on the Internet of Things.[12][13]

Mével is a mentor for the hardware accelerator program Haxlr8r [14] and a co-organizer of the Internet of Things Paris Meetups (#iotparis).[15] He is a familiar face on the IoT and Technological Innovation Speaking Circuit including the Lift with Fing Conference. [16]

Personal life

A Parisian with Breton roots, Olivier Mével is a family man and a devoted father. He enjoys art, design and things retro. He also cares about social justice and environmental causes such as planet sustainability, pollution and carbon footprints. Olivier leads by example by being an avid cyclist, engaging in ecological & social awareness and limiting his vacations to local destinations.
