Omer Shahid Hamid
Omer Shahid Hamid[1] (born October 23, 1977) is the son of late MD Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) Shahid Hamid and a SSP in Sindh Police.
Career
After successfully passing the CSS Examinations, Omar joined the Police Force in 2003 as an ASP. His first appointment was in Police Head Quarters, Garden, Karachi.
Personal life
Omer Shahid Hamid is the son of the late Shahid Hamid, a bureaucrat and managing-director of KESC (now K-Electric), who was murdered along with his driver Ashraf Brohi, and his guard Khan Akbar. All of whom were killed in the neighborhood of Defence Housing Authority, Karachi on the 5 July 1997. Saulat Mirza the main accused in the case got the death penalty by the court and was hanged in Machh jail on 12 May, 2015.[2] Omer is married and a father of two sons.
Life Threat
Omer Hamid went on to serve on Karachi's police force for 13 years and left the Sindh Police in 2011 after getting on the hit list of the Taliban.
As a Writer
After leaving Police, Omer wrote a book named "The Prisoner"[3] inspired by the real life kidnapping and killing of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in 2002
