Opus Capital is a venture capital firm focusing on early stage investments in Information Technology in the United States and Israel.[1]

Opus Capital has more than $1 billion under management and is currently investing from its sixth fund.[2] Over the past three decades — since the firm's roots at Weiss, Peck & Greer Venture Partners — the firm has been involved in more than 80 successful outcomes, including 50 IPOs. Their investment team has played integral roles as investors in the early stages of many successful companies including Adaptec, Bridge Communications, DoubleClick, FedEx, Harmonic, Galileo, Informatica, Phone.com, QED and Vantive. In most cases, the partners have continued to be involved with companies even after the realization of a positive liquidity event.

Currently, the firm has three general partners, Dan Avida, Gill Cogan and Carl Showalter.[3] The Opus general partners are former CEOs and/or have held significant line operating positions at successful companies like AOL, Electronics for Imaging, Formtek (acquired by Lockheed), Juniper Networks and UUNET. With this operating experience, every one of the Opus partners has substantial experience successfully managing change within complex, dynamic environments.
