Orfeo (born Robert Castillo) is a classically trained opera singer from Los Angeles, California. The name Orfeo was chosen as a tribute to the Baroque opera titled L’Orfeo, whose central theme is the Greek legend Orpheus’ ability to seduce all living things with his music and sound. Although Orfeo’s background revolves around a classical setting, his vocal styling and influences are drawn from modern singers Smokey Robinson, Donna Summer and Sylvester.[1]

History

Orfeo released his debut EP, the Orfeo EP in 2012, which was produced and co-written by Robin Hannibal (Quadron/Rhye) with a boutique record label Quieres Chicle? conceived by KCRW's Mathieu Schreyer.[2]

Orfeo has also been featured on Computer Jay's Savage Planet Discotheque vol. 2 EP. The music video for "Hardships," the second track on the EP, was featured on MTVU's "The Freshmen."[3]
