Orion Ben

Orion Ben (Hebrew:אוריאן בן ) is an English actress[1][2] best known for her recurring role as Varde in the BBC 4 comedy series Detectorists[3]

She was born to a Romanian mother and a Moroccan father. She spent her childhood in Israel and speaks fluent Hebrew.

Early life

In 2012, Ben graduated from Oxford School of Drama with a Diploma in Professional Acting.[4][5]

Acting career

After graduation, Ben made her professional stage debut in 2012, playing the Maid in Benedict Andrews’ production of Chekhov’s Three Sisters at the Young Vic Theatre.

In 2013 she filmed her first TV role playing Nava in the Channel 4 series Skins Pure [6](a feature-length episode of the E4 television series Skins). She then went on to play the guest lead Leah Moss, a young pregnant girl who is caring for her elderly agoraphobic mother in the fourth episode of the third series[7] of the BBC medical period drama series Call the Midwife, which aired on 9 February 2014.[8]

Other Credits include Jenny Underhill in the seventeenth series of the BBC TV series Doctors,[9] and the lead in horror films Breath[10][11] and Agravoy.

Ben played the recurring role of Varde[12] in the first and second series of the BBC 4 comedy series Detectorists[13][14]
