Oroton is an Australian luxury fashion accessories company known for its leather handbags.[2] Oroton is owned by the OrotonGroup which is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and has held the licence for the Polo Ralph Lauren in Australia and New Zealand for 2 decades.[3]

History

Oroton was developed from a simple sole trader in 1936 to a private company called Boyd Lane & Co. Pty Ltd in 1939 and then becoming a public company under the name Oroton International in 1987. In 2002, the company was renamed Oroton Group. Its current creative director is Ana Maria Escobar. The label presented its debut ready-to-wear range at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia 2012.

Stores

Oroton currently operates over 50 stores across Australia and New Zealand.[4] It also has a store in Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Singapore, and two stores in Kuala Lumpur, with plans of opening another two in May 2011.[5]

Oroton Today

The OrotonGroup's revenue rose 10.6 per cent to $135.6 million during 2009, as Oroton opened 13 new stores and closed two for landlord redevelopments, taking the total stores to 70 from 59 in 2008.[6] Rose Byrne, Pania Rose, Daria Werbowy, and Samantha Harris are some of the models who have appeared in promotions for Oroton.
