Ospedale Niguarda is a public reference Hospital for Milan and for the rest of Italy.[1] Niguarda is a grade 2 Hospital serving a range of population of about 600.000 e 1.200.000 habitants of Milana and its suburbs, and for the complexity and numerosity of treated cases . see ref.

Niguarda is a General hospital: all medical disciplines and technologies, from diagnosis to rehabilitation, are integrating on serving the best care.

The hospital was inaugurated on October 3, 1939,[2] but its history can be: "respect of tradition in continuous evolution" Niguarda is a lean hospital, last renovation and reorganization[3] was finished at the beginning 2014: depending on the severity and complexity of their diseases, patients enter into areas of care organized in three multidisciplinary blocks:

Our Center highlights


Niguarda Cancer Center: strength is the multidisciplinary built around cancer patient due to the presence of structures such as oncology, hematology, nuclear medicine, radiotherapy, pathology, etc. and multi-specialists professional team.

Niguarda Transplant Center: the excellence of this center is in the integration of its multidisciplinary activities for organ and tissues transplantation

Niguarda Trauma Center: ensure the complete management of major pathologies in adult and children with particular reference to severe trauma, burns and intoxications.

Niguarda Cardio Center: after more than fifty years of cardiology activity and cardio-thoracic and vascular surgery has become an international reference.

Mother and child department: the sphere of competence embraces the whole period of life that goes from procreation to adolescence, with particular attention to infertility problems, pregnancy, physical and mental development of children and teen-ages.


Advanced technologies

Advanced MRI, PET, interventional radiology, linear accelerators, robotic surgery, hybrid OR, gamma knife, focused ultrasound: the constant updating of the technological park is driven by the development of professional skills of high profile.

Niguarda and the Art

Niguarda original structure, dated 1930, is protected by the Ministry of fine arts thanks to its relevant architecture and its artistic masterpieces . Nowardays in the root of this tradition, Niguarda hosts permanent and temporary art expositions, to enhance the social and therapeutic role of art.

The presence of MAPP ( Paolo Pini Art Museum) and of the Art laboratory within the treatment of mental disorders, concerts periodically organized for our visitors and patients, are just other examples of the crucial role given to arts.see images.
