Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Kasur

Our Lady of Sorrows Church is based in Kasur and presently Father Pervez Raza is parish priest of the Church. The parish is part of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Lahore in Pakistan.[1]

Archbishop Alessandro D'Errico, apostolic nuncio to Pakistan, told a group of about 400 Catholics, many of them employed in hazardous leather tanneries or brick kiln factories, that he understands their difficult life, on March 26, 2004 while visiting the parish.[2]

The parish is also home to the Jesus and Mary convent. Through schools like this the Church in Pakistan offers a national service of educating children for a better Pakistan.[3]

On July 3, 2004, Milap Ghar and the parish opened a sewing center for women at Mariam colony in Kasur. The women are members of 25 poor Christian families that were evicted last October from land on which they had lived for decades.[4]

Khurshid Mahmud Kasuri, foreign minister of Pakistan, on January 2, 2005, celebrated the New Year with about 400 people in the compound of the Catholic Church in Kasur. The celebration was organized Father Inayat Bernard, the parish priest at the time.[5]
