"Out of My System" is pop vocalist Feargal Sharkey's last single of 1988 (not including promo single "If This is Love") and second single from his second album Wish.[1] This was Sharkey's first single not to have a promotional video created without counting the Australian only single "It's All Over Now". Sharkey did perform the song on the Dutch show Toppop.[2]
The single was written by Eddie Chacon who was part of the duo Charles & Eddie in the first half of the 1990s, along with Suzanne Valentine.[3]
The single failed to enter the UK top 100, the first single of Sharkey's to do so.[4]
The CD version of the single featured the track "Blue Days" which was featured on Sharkey's Wish album.[5]
The b-side for the single "A Touch of Blue" was exclusive to the single, written by Sharkey and Tim Daly,[5] who was lyrical consultant on Pink Floyd's 1987 album A Momentary Lapse of Reason, and has also worked with other musicians such as David A. Stewart, Hugh Masekela, John Archdeacon and Henry Mancini.[6] "A Touch of Blue" itself is similarly titled to Sharkey's b-side on the previous 1988 single More Love, titled "A Breath of Scandal".[7]
