OutboundEngine is an Austin-based company that provides email and social media marketing services using proprietary software. History
Originally founded in 2010 as Promo Labs, the name officially changed to OutboundEngine in 2012.[4] Founder Branndon Stewart had previously worked for Boundless Network where he focused on personalized and branded marketing.[5] He founded OutboundEngine to apply his marketing techniques to a larger base of small and medium-sized businesses.[5]
OutboundEngine started as an email marketing company, creating email campaigns for promotional products distributors.[2] It expanded to social media marketing in 2012 and began offering support for additional industries, including real estate, insurance, mortgage, and other small businesses. The company raised its first outside funding in 2012, closing a $1.6 million venture capital round led by Floodgate, Austin Ventures, Silverton Partners, and Capital Factory.[6] The same year it also officially changed its name from Promo Labs.
OutboundEngine raised an additional $11 million in a Series B funding round, led by Silverton Partners with participation from Harmony Partners and Altos Ventures.[7][8] Its funding after the Series B round totaled $17.8 million from outside investors.[2]
Company culture
OutboundEngine made the Inc. 5000 list in 2015, ranking 136 out of 5,000 companies.[9][3] It was ranked No. 3 on the list of the 10 fastest growing companies in Austin, with an annual revenue of $4.4 million in 2014.[3] The company was also featured in the Austin Business Journal's 2015 Best Places to Work in Austin and earned the top spot for small businesses on Austin American-Statesman's Top Workplaces of Greater Austin.[10][11]

OutboundEngine provides online marketing for small and medium-sized businesses.[11] Services include email, social media, and content marketing as well as contact management.[12] The company writes email content and runs email marketing campaigns as well as updates social media accounts.[13] It focuses on past customers of businesses in order to obtain referrals and repeat customers for that specific business.[2]
