An oxycation is a polyatomic ion with a positive charge that contains oxygen.
Examples
- Dioxygenyl ion, O+
2 - Nitrosonium ion, NO+
- Nitronium ion, NO+
2 - Vanadyl ion, VO2+, a very stable oxycation
- Uranyl ion, UO2+
2, all natural U6+ occurs in this form
