Półtorak (mead)

Półtorak is a Polish mead that is a Polish product with protected designation of origin by the European Union. The name originates from the proportion of the water, 1/2 unit, and honey, 1 unit, hence "1 and 1/2" or in the Polish language "Półtorak." Addition of juices as substitute for water during the brewing of this honey wine is allowed as are spices; however, no preservatives or artificial products can be added. The strength of alcohol is usually 16% or 32 proof.
