P. David Hornik (born 1954) is a freelance writer and translator living in Be'er Sheva, Israel, and is a columnist for FrontPage Magazine and PJ Media.[1][2] He is the author of the book Choosing Life in Israel (2013).[3][4][5]
Life
Hornik was born in New York City and grew up not far from Albany, New York.[4] In 1984 he moved to Israel and has lived in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Beersheba.[6] He served in the Israel Defense Forces, first in the artillery corps and later in Territorial Defense הגנה מרחבית.
Up to 2003 Hornik, a fiction writer, also occasionally published opinion articles in the Jerusalem Post and in American Jewish magazines such as Moment, Midstream, and others. Hornik also contributed numerous book reviews to the Jerusalem Post.
Since 2003 Hornik has written regularly for David Horowitz's FrontPageMag.com. He also now writes regularly for PJ Media, and has contributed to The American Spectator,[7] American Thinker, ynetnews.com, the Jerusalem Post, the The Jewish Press, and IsraelNationalNews.com, as well as his own blog. His works have been posted and cited on many different radio and television shows as well as the conservative blogosphere.
Hornik is a conspicuous opponent of the mainstream view that Israel is engaged in an authentic peace process with the Arab side. Hornik maintains instead that the Arab (and larger Muslim) world has not accepted Israel, and Israel's approach should be based on deterrence and resolve rather than an illusory quest for acceptance. Hornik regards Israel’s environment as fundamentally hostile for deep-seated cultural reasons and highlights Israel’s smallness, vulnerability, and need to retain its remaining strategic assets.
