Profile Systems and Software S.A. (Athex: PROF; frequently referred to as PROFILE) is a Greece-based international information technology company founded in 1990 that specialises in the development of financial services software.[7] Its main activity is the provision of integrated business software solutions, particularly to medium/large financial institutions.[6]

The company operates offices in Greece, Cyprus, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, UAE and Singapore.[2][8]

History

The company was founded in 1990 by Babis P. Stasinopoulos.[2][3] Being an investor at Athens Exchange in the late 1980s, Stasinopoulos felt the need of software applications for automating workflow and helping with the investment decisions. Therefore his idea was to fill this market niche.[9]

For the first four years his company operated as a private enterprise. In 1995 it was converted into a public limited company (societe anonyme) with an initial capital of 70 million. In 1999 its share capital was increased to 1.2 billion, while its turnover reached 1.8 billion. By 2000, PROFILE was already the leading financial software company and one of the 10 largest IT companies in Greece. Its number of employees exceeded 150.[9]

In August 2003, the company was listed on the Athens Exchange.[10] In the following year it completed mergers through acquisition with BeCom and Analysis,[11] as well as acquired a 70% stake in Globalsoft.[12]

In September 2006, Profile Systems and Software launched its subsidiary company in Bucharest, Romania.[13] In the same year, the parent company was also 12th largest IT company in Greece by total assets (amounting to €21.3 million).[14]

In 2007, the company began incorporating development of two large software products: the Financial Management System (FMS) and Universal Ticketing Solution (UTS).[15][16]

By 2010, Profile had contracted such companies and organizations as National Bank of Greece,[17][18] EFG Eurobank,[19] Ministry of Justice of Greece,[20] National Bank of Romania,[21][22] ING, ABN AMRO, Emporiki Bank, Cosmote,[22] ILPAP, The Hellenic Industrial Property Organisation, Greek Manpower Employment Organization (OAED),[23] and PROBANK.[24]

Since 2011, facing the effects of Greek financial crisis, PROFILE Systems and Software is making a strategic shift from serving mainly domestic market towards increasing its share on international markets.[2][4] As part of the new strategy, PROFILE opened four new offices in major financial centers: Geneva, London, Dubai,[25] and Singapore.[26] It also intensified its promotional and marketing activities in Europe, Middle East, and Asia.[25][26]

Business

Profile Software develops wealth management, asset management, and private banking software for international banks and financial institutions.[27] Its products enable investment and banking professionals to monitor portfolios and transactions via their smartphone or tablet and perform finance activities over a secure connection.[28][29] Profile’s IMSplus Mobility product make use of mobile devices capabilities such as GPS, accelerometer, gesture recognition, and others to provide innovative features such as geo-fencing, lock-on-shake and other more features.[30][31]
