Paata Burchuladze

Paata Burchuladze (Georgian: პაატა ბურჭულაძე) (born 12 February 1955) is a Georgian operatic bass.
Born in Tbilisi, Georgian SSR, he graduated from the Tbilisi State Conservatory and began his operatic career at Tbilisi and Moscow in the late 1970s, with subsequent appearances at Covent Garden (1984), Salzburg Festival under Herbert von Karajan (1987), Metropolitan Opera in the New York City, Verona (Italy), Hamburg (Germany), and other scenes.[1][2]
Burchuladze has been involved in charity work for children through his Iavnana Foundation, which he set up in January 2004. In November 2015, he established the Georgian Development Foundation, a civic movement, which was expected to turn into a political party ahead of the scheduled October 2016 parliamentary election. A March 2016 opinion poll commissioned by the International Republican Institute showed the Foundation not too far behind from the ruling Georgian Dream coalition and the main opposition United National Movement, each garnering 12%, 19%, and 18%, respectively.[3]
