PageCarton /ˈpdʒkɑːtən/ is a free and open-source content management system (CMS) based on PHP and Flat file database.[4] PageCarton is installed on a web server, which either is part of an Internet hosting service or is a network host itself; Pagecarton has been in existence since 2011 as a opensource transition of existing codes of Ayoola Framework. [5] It was released as fully opensource on January 27, 2016[6] The license under which PageCarton software is released is the GPLv2 (or later) from the Free Software Foundation.[7]

Overview

PageCarton has a web template system using a template processor. The standard release of PageCarton, contains basic features common to content management systems. These include user account registration and maintenance, menu management, page layout customization, and system administration. The PageCarton installation can serve as a simple Web site, a single- or multi-user blog, an Internet forum, or a community Web site providing for user-generated content. Although PageCarton offers a sophisticated application programming interface for developers, basic Web site installation and administration of the framework require no programming skills.

PageCarton runs on any computing platform that supports both a Web server capable of running PHP and a database to store content and configuration.

Layouts (themes)

PageCarton users may install and switch between themes. Layouts allow users to change the look and functionality of a PageCarton website and they can be installed without altering the content or health of the site. Every PageCarton website requires at least one theme to be present and every theme should be designed using PageCarton standards with structured HTML and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS).

Extensions

PageCarton's Software extension architecture allows users to extend the features and functionality of a website or blog.

Other features

PageCarton also features a search engineצriendly, clean permalink structure; the ability to assign multiple categories to articles; and support for tagging of posts and articles. PageCarton blog posts can be edited in HTML, using the visual editor.
