Painda

Painda is a town in Attock District, Punjab of Pakistan.

Demography

Major tribes and clans are Arien, Awan, Tharkhan. The majority Awan and Tharkhan living in Painda have migrated from other nearby villages such as Maloo, Kamalpur Musa, Daman and others. They are now known as Awan.

Agriculture

Agriculture plays a crucial part in society. The land in Painda is cheaper compared to the nearby villages.

Religion

The people of Painda are Muslims. There are seven mosques and a large madrassa where thousands of students, both girls and boys, have learned to memorize and recite the Quran. They are under the instruction of Maulana Hafiz Haq Nawaz. There is no government grant given to the madrassa, even though it has been fully registered with government. No fees are being charged to the hundreds of poor students who are studying there, and madressah provides them all with free accommodation, food, and clothing.
