The first season of Paris Hilton's My New BFF, also known simply as My New BFF and Paris Hilton's American Best Friend Forever internationally, premiered in the United States on September 30, 2008 and is the first incarnation of the My New BFF franchise.[1] 16 women and 2 men competed in challenges in an attempt to become her new best friend.[2]

Though Hilton was forbidden from revealing the winner before the show had fully aired, she had on two separate occasions accidentally referred to the winner as a "she," first on the September 25, 2008 airing of the Late Show with David Letterman, and again on the October 7, 2008 airing of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, thus inadvertently narrowing down the contestants.[3]

On December 2, 2008, it was revealed in the finale that Brittany Flickinger became Paris' BFF.[4]

Contestant Selections

Prior to production, a website was set up for potential contestants to submit their videos on why they should be Paris' BFF, and casting sessions were also set up. Initially, the 18 people with the highest votes from other users would go on the show. However, the 10 contestants with the most amount of votes went on while the other 8 were selected by the producers.

TTYN – Talk To You Never, the goodbye message for eliminated contestants. Paris never said "TTYN" to Shelley, Corrie, Onch, or Vanessa when they were eliminated. She said "TTYS" (Talk To You Soon) to Vanessa after her elimination. And finally, she said "Sayonara!" after Bryan and Sinsu were eliminated, as they were in Japan along with Brittany and Natasha.
