Parnel Legros (Parnell)[1]) a former Olympic level judoka for the nation of Haiti.[2] Parnel Legros was born on November 11, 1956.[2]

Martial Arts

Parnel competed in the 1992 Summer Olympics Barcelona Olympics.[2] He would compete in the Half Heavyweight division (95kg) finishing 21st.[3]

Coaching

From 1993 to 2002, 1500 students would pass through his Judo program at Starett City.[4] Legros for a period ran the largest Judo program in the northeast.[4] Legros would win the Real Judo award for Coach of the Year in 2002.[5] Legros would receive the Sloan Public Service Award from Mayor Rudy Giuliani as a result of his success with youth in Judo.[4] 100% of Parnel's Judo students went on to college.[4]

Parnel has been a clinician for the USJF.[6] Legros was a speaker at the funeral of Rena Kanakogi.[7]

Parnel works as a gym teacher at IS 364.[8] Parnel was noted as a teacher who made an attempt to save the life of a student at Intermediate School 364 who died after playing football.[9]
