Parnell Railway Station is a new station under construction in Parnell, Auckland, New Zealand, on the Newmarket Line (which serves the Western, Onehunga, and Southern lines of the Auckland rail network).

The station is located in the Waipapa Valley between Parnell and the Auckland Domain, some distance north of the Parnell Tunnel. An early proposal was to integrate it with some of the historic Mainline Steam buildings (former railway workshops),[1] but nothing eventuated and the buildings were demolished in September 2015.

After a plan to lease part of the area as a bus depot was cancelled,[2] KiwiRail and Auckland Council were asked in 2010 by the outgoing Auckland Regional Council to make an early start on construction of the proposed station, which was to cost $13 million or more, to ensure that there would not need to be costly extra work after the electrification of the line as part of the Auckland railway electrification.[3] It was proposed that several million dollars saved during the upgrade of the Newmarket Train Station be allocated to this new station.[2]

The works required were budgeted at approximately $5.5 million to regrade the rail tracks, and further expenses to improve local access to the station, both from Parnell and the Auckland Domain / Auckland CBD side. The old heritage station building of the Newmarket Train Station, removed as part of the modern upgrade of that station, was proposed to be installed at the new station.[3]
