Pat Kelsey (born May 15, 1975) is a college basketball head coach for Winthrop University. He is in his fourth year as head coach of Winthrop Eagles men's basketball team.[1]

Assistant coach

Kelsey was a successful assistant coach at Xavier University and Wake Forest University. He earned five NCAA Tournament berths, an NIT berth, a No. 1 national ranking in two different seasons and an ACC regular season championship. He was sought after by some of America's top programs and has been involved as a candidate for many head coaching jobs. Chris Mack, former A-10 Championship head coach considered him to be one of the best assistant coaches in America.

Players coached

Kelsey has coached some professional basketball players including Ishmael Smith, an All-ACC selection and player for the Houston Rockets. He coached James Johnson, a two-time All-ACC selection and number 17 overall by the Chicago Bulls in the 2009 NBA Draft. He also coached Al-Farouq Aminu, who was ranked the No. 7 recruit nationally in 2010 and a McDonald's All-America in 2008, eight overall by the L.A. Clippers in the 2010 NBA Draft.[2]
