Pathakhera

Pathakhera (Pathakheda) is a town in the municipality of Sarni in the Betul District, Madhya Pradesh, India. There are 8 coal mines of Western Coalfields Limited (a Subsidiary of Coal India Limited) here. It comes under Satpura area in Madhya Pradesh.

Nearby Sarni is home to the largest power plant in MP, contributing to approximately 70% of total electricity supply of Madhya Pradesh. Pathakhera looks like mini India because people living in this place belong to different states. Nowadays its is one of the main coal areas and now developing the town day by day.

Pathakhera was an dense forest area between 1960–70. This is a part of "Satapura Valley". Most of us heard the poems of "Satpura ke Ghane Jungle" means Dense forest of Satapura in our childhood books. This is approx 68 km from the District of Betul (Madhya Pradesh). When Coal India and state government envisaged the availability of coal and water resources in this area, they built a power plant near this area approximate 4 km from Pathakhera. An area named Sarni, it was also a village at that moment.

The mines were opened in these areas for facilitate the coal to Sarni Thermal Power Plant.
