Early life
Born on October 18, 1978 of Armenian descent in Tehran, Iran during the Iranian Revolution. He emigrated to the United States in 1990. Spent the rest of his childhood and early adulthood in Glendale, California before he served in 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army.
Career
Bet-David, upon discharge from the Army, started his career in financial services at Morgan Stanley and the Transamerica Corporation (a division of Aegon). After a dinner event with George Will in 2009, Bet-David was inspired to start a crusade called Saving America to encourage free enterprise and fiscal responsibility. Later that year, Bet-David launched a weekly radio show called Saving America on KKLA-FM in Los Angeles. The half-hour show ran for 52 episodes and featured interviews and commentary with various guests.[1]
Bet-David has interviewed several interesting luminaries on the topic of Saving America and financial literacy, such as Apple Co-Founder, Steve Wozniak,[2] former U.S. Comptroller David Walker[3] and Presidential Candidate, Senator Rick Santorum.[4]
Bet-David is also an avid blogger and contributor to numerous news outlets on issues of personal finance.[5] His differing views on entrepreneurship, real estate, and the American Dream have been featured on Fox Business,[6] the Denver Post[7] and CNNMoney,[8] among others. To further his crusade of educating America on all things related to personal finance, Bet-David created GoAskNewton.com, an educational and approachable website aimed to educate the masses on how to better manage their money.[9] In 2013 he launched a weekly video blog called “2 Minutes with Pat”, later renamed "Valutainment Weekly".
Books
Bet-David has published two books, The 25 Laws for Doing the Impossible and The Next Perfect Storm.
The 25 Laws for Doing the Impossible, published in 2011, provides readers with a step-by-step guide to recreating one’s identity, identifying a cause, and taking bold strides to accomplish greatness.[10]
The Next Perfect Storm, published in 2012, looks to past business booms, such as real estate in the 2000s and the stock market of the late 1990s, as an indicator of which industry is poised to experience the next big boom and how readers can profit from the timing.[11]
