Paul Campbell (English politician)
Paul T Campbell (born 13 June 1953) was the 2010 Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Warrington North.[1]
Paul Campbell is a retired Police Officer and married to Helena with a grown up family. He is described as "a life long Man Utd fan who enjoys the odd round of golf provided the weather is good and the course is flat.[2]
Political career
As a member of the Conservative Party Mr Campbell has held a variety of positions including election agent, Parish Councillor and County Councillor. He was elected Councillor to Warrington Borough Council for Penketh & Cuerdley on Thursday 1 May 2008 [3][4] and was appointed the executive member for finance in December 2009.[5]
Work in Warrington North
He has been involved in the following local issues:
- Toll charges for the Mersey Gateway which is a proposed new road bridge across the River Mersey and the Manchester Ship Canal.
- Opposing the expansion of the Risley Tip
- Opposing the building of a rail depot at Parkside
- Opposing a Titan Prison being built in Warrington
Paul Campbell started a heated debate by writing a letter [6] to the Warrington Guardian on 22 October 2009 criticizing police protection from criminals.
