Paul Hoffman (VPNC)

Paul E. Hoffman is an Internet pioneer, based in Santa Cruz, California.

Hoffman has been involved with the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) since the early 1990s, is as of 2015 chair of the IETF IP Security Maintenance and Extensions (ipsecme) working group, and has chaired numerous working groups in the past. He is the founder of the Internet Mail Consortium and the Virtual Private Network Consortium.

He has authored popular books on technical topics, including Perl for Dummies[1] and Netscape Communicator for Dummies.[2] Additionally, he is the author of the following Requests for Comments (RFCs):
