Paul Whybrew
Paul Kevin Whybrew (born 1959), LVO, RVM is Page of the Backstairs to Queen Elizabeth II.
Role
His role as personal page to the Queen requires that he cater to a significant proportion of the Monarch's daily needs. He is given grace and favour accommodation by the Queen at Windsor Castle, Balmoral Castle and Sandringham House.
Incident
In 1982, Whybrew spoke to Michael Fagan.[1] Fagan had evaded security and broken into the royal bedroom at Buckingham Palace.
Honours
In addition to his honours, Whybrew was appointed "Serjeant-at-Arms" to the Queen in 2008. The role was first established in the 12th Century.[1]
As Queen Elizabeth's favourite footman, Whybrew was also included in the video opening for the 2012 London Olympics with James Bond (Daniel Craig).[2]
Having already been appointed a Member of the Royal Victorian Order Paul was advanced to an Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order during the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Honours.
Personal life
Whybrew, known as "Big Paul", was born at Braintree, Essex, in 1959 and is 192 cm (6 ft 4 in) tall.
