Paul Wilson (criminologist)

Paul Richard Wilson (born 9 March 1941) OAM is a New Zealand-born Australian author, sociologist and criminologist.

Biography

Paul Wilson was born in New Zealand.[1] He has held academic appointments at the University of Queensland, Bond University and several American Universities. He also was a Fulbright Scholar.

He has authored 24 books on crime and related social issues and he is an occasional columnist for several Australian newspapers.

He was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the Australia Day Honours of 26 January 2003.[2]

In November 2012, Wilson was accused of sex abuse alleged to have happened in the early 1970s. He is fighting the charge.[3]

On 16 May 2014, Wilson was committed to stand trial on six charges of indecent treatment of girls under the age of 17. Wilson pleaded not guilty to the charges. [4]
