Paula Schwartz Apsell (born July 4, 1947) (Brandeis Alumni Soc. & USPRI)

Paula Apsell, is the WGBH television executive producer of NOVA and director of the WGBH Science Unit. Born in Lynn, Massachusetts, she grew up in Marblehead, Massachusetts. Her grandfather was a cobbler and an immigrant from Kiev (1930 Census). In 1969 she graduated from Brandeis University with a degree in psychology. (Brandeis Review)

In 1994 she received the Boston Museum of Science Bradford Washburn Award for her career contributions to science journalism. (Globe 1994)

In 1983-84 MIT awarded her the Vannevar Bush Fellowship in the Public Understanding of Science. She studied evolutionary biology, and health policy among other topics (Brandeis Review).

She is married to MicroLogic, Inc. Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, physicist Sheldon Apsell Ph.D., a co-founder of Kronos, and developer of LoJack (TMCnet & MicroLogic).
