Music was composed by Ilaiyaraaja.[4] He had composed the song "Ilaya Nila" initially for Moodu Pani (1980), but that film's director Balu Mahendra rejected it.[5] The tune of "Ilaya Nila" was later reused in the Hindi song "Neele Neele Ambar Par", sung by Kishore Kumar for Kalakaar (1983),[6][7] and "Yeh Aatha" was remixed by Mani Sharma in Malaikottai (2007).[8]
