Pearl Buck Award
The Pearl Buck Award is distributed by the Sino-American Foundation for the Advancement of Hermeneutical Studies to teachers who have made innovation or shown excellence in the adaptation of current evidence based teaching practices in high schools. The award is named for Pearl S. Buck, the Chinese-raised, Nobel Prize-winning humanitarian for Asian children and other children of color.
Nominee selection
Two nominees are chosen to represent each state and one representative per U.S. territory. They are nominated by former recipients and winners are chosen by a committee of scholars, directors, and producers, based on recommendations solicited from colleagues and students.The Sino-American Foundation for the Advancement of Hermeneutical Studies (SAFAHS) is a non-profit organization that helps encourage Asian-American teachers and scholars to involve film studies in their curricula.
