Pelikan Technologies, Inc.

Pelikan Technologies, Inc. is a privately held company headquartered in Palo Alto, California. Pelikan Technologies also has facilities in Münster, Germany, acquired in December 2004 when the company purchased Inventus BioTec, GmbH & Co KG.[1]

Pelikan Technologies manufactures and markets hand-held medical diagnostic and monitoring devices designed for the management of diabetes. The company philosophy is that "people with diabetes will feel empowered and motivated to better manage their health through improved compliance with testing." Pelikan’s electronic lancing technology is often used for children, the newly diagnosed, and people who test their blood glucose frequently. Pelikan’s initial product is the Pelikan Sun electronic lancing device. It was commercially launched in the United States and in a number of European countries in late 2007.

On September 28, 2011, Pelikan Technologies, Inc. filed a voluntary petition for liquidation under Chapter 7 in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California, San Jose.
