Pendant Productions, (also known as Pendant Audio, or just Pendant) is an independent online production group specializing in the production of audio serials and radio dramas for podcast, digital download, and radio broadcast. The group consists of scores of writers, voice actors, editors and directors who create a myriad of original monthly shows and newscasts.

Pendant is considered part of the growing online community specializing in the revival of audio drama and the subgenre of audio theater.[1]

Nearly 1 million mp3s were downloaded from pendantaudio.com in 2007,[2] and in 2008, Pendant topped 1.1 million mp3s downloaded. This number does not count episodes downloaded through iTunes.

History

Pendant Productions was created by Jeffrey Bridges, who serves as executive producer on all shows.

The net-based audio theater company got its started with the popular fan show Star Trek: Defiant, whose launch was delayed due to production difficulties. The group later branched out into dramas based on Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Star Wars, to name a few. On May 29, 2012, Pendant ceased all production on fan shows, in an effort to focus on more original programing.[3]

Pendant's original shows include Seminar, an anthology series, The Kingery, a science fiction crime drama, Umket Industries Presents: The Dixie Stenberg and Brassy Battalion Adventure Theatre, a WWII adventure drama, Genesis Avalon, an original superhero drama, Once Upon a Time in Vegas, a modern fairy tale drama, Red Sands Investigations, an original noir drama, and Tabula Rasa, a crime drama set in the city of Chicago.

The production company regularly holds open auditions for each of their shows, as well as director classes to train those interested in directing audio dramas for Pendant.

To date, Pendant has produced eleven original podcast shows from a wide array of genres:

Umket Industries Presents: The Dixie Stenberg and Brassy Battalion Adventure Theater is an original sci-fi serial adventure produced in classic Old-Time Radio style.

Once Upon a Time in Vegas is a maxi-serial fantasy drama where fairy tales meet the real world.
Seminar is an ongoing anthology series, with no restrictions on genre.
Genesis Avalon is a superhero maxi-serial fantasy drama.

The Line is a full-cast fantasy serial drama.
Tabula Rasa is a crime drama set in the city of Chicago.
