Pennthorpe School is a co-educational independent school in Rudgwick, West Sussex, for children aged 2 to 13. The school was founded in 1930 in Chislehurst Kent as a Christian Boarding school for boys. In 1939, at the outbreak of World War II, the school relocated to Gibbons Mill, south of the village of Rudgwick. In 1948 the school moved to its current location in a manor house, "Gaskyns" in Rudgwick itself. The school remained an all-boys school until the early 1980s, when under the Headmaster Rev. John Spencer it officially became co-educational. Pupils usually pass onto their chosen senior schools at age 13 through Common Entrance or Common Academic Scholarship exams.
