P.E.S. College of Engineering (PESCE, standing for "People's Education Society College of Engineering") is an autonomous institute and technical engineering college located in Mandya, Karnataka, India. Established in 1962, it is run by the People's Education Trust.[1] It is an autonomous institute from year 2008 under Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum[2] and is recognised by AICTE. It offers undergraduate courses in Engineering and postgraduate courses in Engineering and MBA.
Overview
P.E.S. College of Engineering, Mandya is affiliated to the Visveswaraiah Technological University and is recognised by the All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi. Previously it was affiliated to the University of Mysore. It is an institution functioning under the grant-in-aid scheme of Government of Karnataka. The College was established in 1962 by People's Education Society currently known as People's Education Trust (R), with the help of philanthropic farmers of Mandya District. The sole objective of the college was to promote Technical Education among the students of Rural Areas. The Society was founded by late Sri K.V. Shankaregowda, former Education Minister of Government of Karnataka. He was a person with a missionary zeal and long cherised ambition to promote and disseminate knowledge, serving generally the cause of Education.
Location
The College campus is located in South Western part of Mandya City, along the Bangalore-Mysore Highway, on an elevated plot of 62 acres of land. Mandya City is the District Headquarters of Mandya District and is 100 km from Bangalore and 45 km from Mysore. Mandya is well connected by a Highway and a broad gauge railway line. Mandya District is predominantly an agricultural area. The lush green fields of Sugar Cane and Paddy are a pleasing sight to all those who pass by. They effluence of sugar cane processing plants is, however, not such a pleasing smell. Mandya is also bounded by scenic splendors like Gaganachukki, Barachukki water falls at Shivanasamudram, Brindavan Gardens at KRS and Historical place of interest in Srirangapatna. It is affiliated to VTU & recognized by the AICTE.
