Perception Digital (PD, SEHK: 1822) specializes in providing embedded firmware to enable smart consumer electronics devices and "end-to-end" product development and production solutions.

PD majors in Digital Signal Processing (DSP), Android, Live-Lite, and mobile technologies.

PD currently focuses on well-being devices, portable entertainment and lifestyle consumer electronics.

The company was founded in 1999, by three professors, Dr. Jack Lau, Prof. Chi Ying Tsui, and Prof. Roger, Shu Kwan Cheng.

Being one of the first companies accepted by the Entrepreneurship Program, and HKUST as shareholder since 2000, the company received support from HKUST such as space in the HKUST’s on-campus technology incubator and related services, designation of an advisory team providing guidance on technical and management issues, and introductions to potential investors, sources of venture capital and potential partners during the start-up stage.

The company was successfully listed on the Growth Enterprise Market board (stock code: 8248) of Hong Kong Stock Exchange on December 16, 2009. The company subsequently transferred its listing to the Main Board of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong (stock code: 1822).
