Escaping criticism.
Pere Borrell del Caso (1835–1910) was a Spanish Catalan painter, illustrator and engraver, best known for his painting Escapando de la crítica (Escaping criticism) (1874), an example of trompe-l'œil. It blurs the boundary between real and fictitious space.[1]
Borrell del Caso was born at Puigcerdà. The artist Romà Ribera trained with him.[2]
Borrell del Caso died in Barcelona in 1910. Puigcerdà's local high school Institut Pere Borrell has his name in his honour.
