Peshawar Valley Field Force

The Peshawar Valley Field Force was a British field force of around 12,000 men, a mix of both British regiments and South Asian regiments, under the command of Sir Samuel J. Browne during the Second Anglo-Afghan War (1878-1880).[1] The force fought at the Battle of Ali Masjid which was the first battle of the war.

At the start of the Second Anglo-Afghan War the Force was made up of the following:
