Peter Gordon (radio presenter)

Peter Gordon, known on air as PG, is programme controller and presenter of the breakfast show on Eagle Radio, a local radio station for Surrey and Hampshire.

Gordon was born at Mount Alvernia Hospital in Guildford[1] and educated at Cranleigh School.[2] He went on to study at University of York, where he began his career as a presenter on the student radio station. He joined the BBC as a presenter before returning to Surrey to work as a news, sport and music presenter for County Sound, Radio Mercury and 106.6 Star FM. He has appeared on television in ITV's The Village and British National Ice Hockey League.[3]

Gordon has appeared in panto at Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud Theatre for ten consecutive years, playing roles in Snow White, Cinderella and Jack and the Beanstalk,[4] and did not miss a year even when he was suffering from ill health.[5] His most recent pantomime appearances have included Cinderella[6] from December 2013 to January 2014, Snow White from December 2014 to January 2015,[7] and Jack and the Beanstalk between December 2015 and January 2016.[8]

In April 2016 he chaired an open forum attended by local politicians and hundreds of members of the public about the future of Guildford.[9]

He has used his local celebrity status to support local charities such as Children with Special Needs Foundation and CHASE. He has also supported other local initiatives such as Surrey Police's "Watch your drinks" campaign in 2003. In 2012 he participated in the unveiling of a The Space Between, a sculpture commemorating The Jam in their home town of Woking.[10]

Gordon worked with the writer Albert Jack on the 2010 book What Caesar did for my Salad.
