Peter Vogel Instruments

Peter Vogel Instruments is a company based in Sydney, Australia, designing and manufacturing electronic musical instruments. Founded by inventor and music technology pioneer Peter Vogel, it is the successor to Fairlight Instruments, maker of the Fairlight CMI (Computer Musical Instrument), which is credited as being the first commercial keyboard sampler[1] and was featured in many popular songs in the 1980s.[2]

History

After rebirthing Fairlight Instruments in August 2009[3] and releasing the CMI-30A, the 30th anniversary model of the Fairlight CMI,[4] and Fairlight iOS apps for the Apple iPhone and iPad,[5] Peter Vogel renamed his company in July 2012.

When announcing the name change, the company foreshadowed a new range of synthesisers was being developed.[6]
