Petites Heures of Jean de France, Duc de Berry

Illumination of the Petites Heures

The Petites Heures of Jean de France, Duc de Berry was an illuminated book of Hours commissioned by John, Duke of Berry. It is now housed at the Bibliothèque nationale de France under the reference ms. lat. 18014.

It contains 182 miniatures. It was created by five artists, including Jean Le Noir (from 1372), then Jacquemart de Hesdin (between 1385 and 1390). Around 1410, the duke added a miniature by one of the Limbourg brothers to the book, showing him setting out on a pilgrimage.
